The relationship between a horror film and an Oscar award is much like my equation with my ex – I deserved her, but it never worked out! On a serious note, it is quite baffling how many times some deserving horror films have been snubbed by the Oscar! In all these years, The Silence of the Lambs is the only horror movie that has won an Oscar for best picture – and it is more of a serial killer thriller than a horror flick! There have been several wins for stuff like best makeup and costume designs, best sound effects, best art direction, and cinematography, etc. However, the best picture award has continued to elude the horror genre.
